Reverse Advent Project
Background
In 2022 we initiated the Reverse Advent Project in the understanding that many in our community were struggling to make ends meet, for some it was a decision of paying the bills or buying food.
In its first year with the very generous support of many businesses, schools and community minded citizens we were able to collect 440 hampers for the Christian Emergency Food Centre to distributed to their diverse cliental throughout Horsham and surrounding areas. Over three last 3 years 1,100 hampers have been collected.
Our goal for 2025 is to collect and distribute 500 hampers to those who need it the most in our community.
What does Advent mean?
In Christianity, Advent refers to the period of four weeks leading up to Christmas. It is a time of anticipation and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day.
What does Reverse Advent mean?
Reverse Advent is about giving to others during Advent as opposed to receiving.
How to get involved
Pop into the Horsham Sports and Community Club, pick up a box(es) and list from reception and return the filled boxes!

FAQ's
Can we work with others to fill boxes?
Absolutely! Working with others to fill a box is a wonderful way to share the joy of giving and show kindness in action. It’s also a great way to teach kids about generosity and the true spirit of the season.

We’re a business and we want to get involved?
There are many different ways which businesses and organisations can get involved from:
- Having departments or groups within a business work together on filling their individual hampers.
- A business can fill the hampers together with each member brings a single item from the checklist to fill the box with.
Who will receive the hampers?
The hampers with everyday food and essentials items are passed on to the Christian Emergency Food Centre who then distribute it to people of all backgrounds who are struggling and are need of support.
